How did I miss that ?

Here it is 2012, the first album i bought was Enter the 36 chambers by Wu-tang back in 2000
( released 1993).The album had been out a full seven years before I purchased it, why? Well, let's do the math. I was born in 1984 which put me at nine the time 36 chambers was released. I doubt, to this day, that the parents of nine year old wilbur would allow him to stroll into tower records with twenty bucks and stroll on out; not even the stores attendant would allow that.

Now I'm older, 28 to be exact. let's do a little rough math here. let's say every year about 100 artist release an album ( whether popular or not) from the time I was able to buy albums,1200  have already been released, but we all know thats not true. given todays technical advances albums can be dropped in mere days. fire up your DAW of choice, layer the bass line, synth, and drums, add vocals and you have a chart topper. So what happens? through all the marketing, peer pressure, and radio friendly songs you miss the hidden gems, the auditory orgasms, the music that rekindles your faith in humanity.

What I hope to accomplish with these series of articles is to find those pieces of music, find those albums, not just one or two songs, but albums. to listen to the music I missed out on during my rap days, to listen to the music I didn't understand during my grunge/punk days. to fully embrace the music I refused to listen to during my EDM days.  not to say those days were bad (in fact those days are still here), but to give those albums the light of day.

Hope you follow me on this journey.
